Skip the house work, let the laundry pile up...it's off for the day to find treasures, sell pin cushions and have lunch with my sister Maureen
Let's go
thrifting.
My favorite is going to the York County Thrift Shop better known as the "Cape
Neddick Mall."
Stuff a bag for a dollar is such a high if they have treasures. My mind spins and I get dizzy looking at the
shelves looking for a dish, mugs
something to put in the shop or recycle the textiles into other creations. Let's say I got my fix.... pictures later. My head is spinning and I am like a
junky thinking of the next stop.
Next I find myself calling 411 like it is 911 looking for a thrift shop close to my sister's shop. I found one, yeah!!! Once I walked through the door I was greeted with a basket with 5 vintage aprons for $1 each. I left with them and a great vintage suit for both the stitches to make bags and clutches out of.
Marketplace Quilts was my next stop--to visit with my sister Maureen and have lunch. I brought a new batch of recycled mugs turned into wool
pincushions. Her quilt store is great and wo
rth a trip to it if in the area.
Back home to give Mary the car and then before I know it I am heading to Portland with her. more shops. Checked out
Edith and Edna which we heard about from
SouleMama's blog. Mary met up with her friend for dinner and I puttered around. First heading to
KnitWit to buy a couple of
skein of sock yarn--my usual--next to Borders, to get ideas from the latest
magazines and books related to sewing, quilting and knitting.
It doesn't get better than this! I will post pictures soon
